After 36 years of service to the Bailey Library, Cindy Hinkley, our beloved Children’s Librarian, will be retiring on May 2. Since joining the library in 1990, Cindy has been part of nearly every chapter of its story. From the days of card catalogs to digital systems, through the 2009 fire and temporary move to the Town Office, to the opening of the current building in 2015, she has been a steady and reassuring presence. Most importantly, she has been a constant in the lives of Winthrop families, helping introduce four generations of children to the joy of reading and the magic of the library. The public is invited to join us in celebrating Cindy’s remarkable career at an open house retirement party on Friday, May 1 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., featuring sandwiches and desserts. The celebration will continue with a special edition of Trivia with Nick Perry at 6:00 p.m., Cindy’s favorite program. We are incredibly grateful for everything Cindy has given to this library and this community, and we wish her the very best in her retirement.
