Over the last few years we have reinvented ourselves as a vibrant, active community hub that offers arts and culture programming, workshops, gathering spaces, makerspaces and a variety of materials on loan, including bird watching kits, snowshoes, and outdoor goods. We believe that libraries reflect community, so we invite you to share your thoughts and talents, contribute to conversations and gatherings, and connect with your neighbors at our events. Do you work or volunteer for a nonprofit? We have printers, scanners, projectors, meeting rooms, presentation areas and more! We recently expanded our specialty lending, enhanced our partnership with the local schools, increased educational programs for children, and started new programs for local teens. We are particularly excited about our “Teacher Resource Bags” that provide books, movies, and audio to Winthrop teachers to help enhance their curriculum. On behalf of all of the staff, thank you for visiting the Bailey Library. There are so many resources for you at the library, and we look forward to helping you discover them in the years to come!

Richard Fortin

Director, Bailey Library

Under the direction of our talented Library Director and our creative staff, our library continues to grow as a community hub for learning, camaraderie, and fun for all ages. This year we have grown our alliance with our schools, bringing our library resources to the classroom, and the classrooms to our library. Thanks Ms. Stacy! From our “Stuffy Sleepover Party” to Mr. Drew and His Animals Too, we continue to entertain and engage children in our community. Thanks to generous donations in memory of Burtt Richardson, “Story Walks” are now being held at Norcross Point. Our new Teen Librarian, Jenny has arrived with lots of new activities including crafts, games, and writing workshops! The Bailey Title Waves, led by Adult Services Librarian, Nick Perry meets monthly, and our music groups “Bailey Ukulele” and “Bailey Sloow Jam” offer music, fellowship and fun throughout the month. Need a tool? How about a fishing rod? Snowshoes? Cake pan? Bird watching kit? Science kit? Our library does more than just lend books! Our library is a vibrant, community resource. Take advantage of all we have to offer! Our Bailey Library is truly yours to explore!
