3D Printing at Bailey Library

The library has two 3D printers that reproduces digital files as solid physical objects. To take advantage of this technology, simply complete our 3D Print Request Form. Library staff will review your request and contact you.

ABOUT OUR 3D PRINTERS >>

The library currently has two Bambu Lab P2S 3D printers available for our free 3D printing service. One printer is located in the Teen Makerspace area, while the second is located at the Reference Desk in the adult wing of the library. Both printers are managed by the Adult Services Librarian. We use PLA filament for all 3D printing requests, and both printers feature fully enclosed printing areas.

USING OUR 3D PRINTERS>>

Our 3D printing service is an introduction to 3D printing technology for hobby-level experiences. We will do our best to accommodate your requests and specifications but we cannot guarantee a particular level of precision.

Please note: Our printers are not well suited for designs with very small, thin, or intricate parts. These features may not print successfully or may be fragile in the finished print.

Before you submit your request, please review the following rules:

  • Print requests are free for Bailey cardholders
  • If requesting a specific design, please provide a direct link to the design on the MakerWorld website.
  • Our printer can accommodate files up to 10” x 10” x 10″
  • We will call or email you when your print is complete
  • The library reserves the right to refuse any 3D print request

RESTRICTIONS >>

The library’s 3D printer may not be used to create weapons or materials that:

  • Are prohibited by local, state, or federal law
  • Are unsafe, harmful, dangerous, or that pose an immediate threat to the well-being of others
  • Are inappropriate for the library environment
  • Are used to reproduce objects that are subject to copyright, patent, or trademark protection
  • Resemble or depict weapons and other instruments of destruction

The library will not be liable for functional failure of, or injuries, or property damage caused by objects or materials made through the use of our 3D printer. We strongly recommend that the 3D printer not be used to make objects that could prove harmful or that would result in significant cost to the user if they fail.
